Oleum Flex, a hydraulic and industrial installation company, and Helioz Technologies implemented zipCPQ to simplify product configuration process and speed up quote generation.

Oleum Flex was founded in 2012 to transfer 20-year-old experience and become a market leader for the oil industry in Croatia and Eastern Europe. They specialize in hydraulic and industrial installations but also design, produce, montage, and sell installations for hydraulics and other media. Oleum Flex prides itself on diligent and patient employees, professional knowledge, high-quality services, and fast technical solutions.

The Challenge

Hydraulics and industrial installation are a world of intricacies where precision engineering meets the constant need for cost-effectiveness. For Oleum Flex, these challenges were all too familiar. Their assortment offers over 500 hydraulic and industrial hoses and over 1500 fittings. Manual quoting processes, complex configurations, and pricing complexities often led to delays and errors, hindering their ability to deliver the best customer service.

This implementation aimed to provide a single platform to handle configuration, pricing, and generating quotes and to cut down the use of spreadsheets. Automating these processes and streamlining the workflow will enable Oleum Flex to give its customers the best experience with all provided resources.

The Solution

To solve all the challenges, the Helioz team united a product configurator, a 3D viewer, and a Bill of Materials field into a single portal seamlessly integrated into Oleum Flex’s website to ensure a faster, easier, and much simpler buying process. Visitors to the Oleum Flex website start the configuration process by selecting the type of hydraulic hose. The next three steps let them choose the fittings and protection for the hose. The final step to fully configure the product is to confirm the bill of material for the selected options with a corresponding part number.

Helioz developed the rules and logic for the configurator that navigates the users to pick only the viable options for the configuration. The selection process goes from top to bottom – selecting the top options will reduce the options below.

To help customers better understand all the configuration options, a 3D viewer that can be updated with every change the customer makes has been added. Seeing all the changes will help customers understand how the product is customized.

Once the product is configured, all the specifications are collected in the Bill of Materials. At that point, the customers can increase the number of hoses needed and add them to the cart.

When the customer requests a quote, the selected configurations appear in Quote Management, where the Sales Manager can add or change the discounts and automatically create the Quote ready to be sent to the customer.

It is possible to add discount rules that can be applied to different types of customers. Quote management provides a dashboard with a complete overview of the status of the Quotes.
